Two Seasons Guest House is partnering with other entities in Treasure Beach, the home of community-based tourism on the south coast of Jamaica, to present the Treasure Beach Breadbasket Festival on May 27, 28 and 29, 2011. In essence the festival will be a weekend of cultural, culinary, music, literary and visual art events at different locations.
Two Seasons Guest House will be hosting the literary event, the Talking Trees Literary Fiesta, to take place on Saturday, May 28. The organizing committee is comprised of Christine Marrett, owner, Two Seasons Guest House; Gwyneth Harold Davidson, a public relations practitioner and writer; and Janet Barrett, human resource practitioner and event organizer.
There is much interest in the Festival and in particular, the Talking Trees Fiesta, which will build on the success of the Calabash International Literary Festival that ran from 2001-2010 in Treasure Beach, and had become a national calendar event and an essential part of the economy of the community.
Established and new writers of various literary genres will share their work with the audience. Selections from two other literary events held in Jamaica in November 2010 and earlier in May 2011 will be invited, demonstrating collaboration rather than competition. In addition, patrons will be treated to “recorded talk” played along with background music to welcome guests to the event and during breaks between presentations. (See the programme). A special feature of the Fiesta is a Children’s programme.
Food and drink will be on sale. Business entities are invited to purchase a booth for display and sale of their products. Other sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Our book vendor partner is Bookophilia.
