Two Seasons Talking Trees 2019 Reader – Curdella Forbes

Curdella Forbes is a Jamaican fiction writer who lives in Maryland, USA and teaches at Howard University. Her latest novel, A Tall History of Sugar, will be published by Akashic Books  (USA) and Canongate (UK) in October 2019. It is also being translated into French for Editions Globe. Her other publications include Songs of Silence (Heinemann 2002, CXC edition 2010); Flying with Icarus, a book of fiction for children (Walker Books 2003); A Permanent Freedom (Peepal Tree Press 2008);and Ghosts  (Peepal Tree 2012). Her short fiction has appeared in journals and anthologies. She has read her work at Calabash and to audiences in the Caribbean, the UK and the USA. Curdella Forbes is also the author of  an award-winning academic book, From Nation to Diaspora: George Lamming, Samuel Selvon and the Cultural Performance of Gender (UWI Press, 2005) and numerous book chapters and essays in peer reviewed and literary journals.
