Moods, Music, Memories – Stephen “Ras Katri” Wise

Stephen “Ras Katri” Wise is a multi- instrumentalist musician (sax, flute, drums, keyboards) and vocalist who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry like Stevie Wonder. He was featured on two of Wonder’s CDs “Jungle Fever” and “Characters”. Other names include Patti Labelle, Boyz II Men, The Roots, Britney Spears, and Teena Marie to name a few.

Ras Katri gained global visibility appearing and competing on Star Search reaching semi-finalist status. In 1990, when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and appeared on the steps of City Hall in Los Angeles, California, he performed to embrace and honor him.

Besides being the bandleader for The Edge (wedding band in Philadelphia) and the StepWise Band (Reggae band in Jamaica), Stephen is also a songwriter and music producer who has produced 6 recorded albums/CDs  of his own original, thought-provoking music which can be found at CD Baby. He also produces and cultivates many upcoming artists, singers, poets and spoken word-ologists.

He collaborated with Two Seasons Guest House in the 2017  providing musical interludes during Two Seasons Talking Trees Literary Fiesta on Saturday, May 27, and also facilitated the workshop, “Music as medicine” on Sunday, May 28, 2017/
